En-Route
We wanted to drive the infamous ‘Highway 1’ so from Yosemite we set for the coast. We chose a small town at the start of the highway, Morro Bay.
We spent a night in Morro Bay (cheesy seaside town) only to find out that that section of HIghway 1 had been closed due to a serious rockfall. Following local advice we took an inland detour that took us through Fort Hunter-Ligget, a vast US Army training base (hence the deserted tank in field!) and through a treacherous descent onto HIghway 1.
Big Sur was next.
